Songs of Praise Visits Shrewsbury

Viewers of the popular BBC television programme, Songs of Praise, will be treated to the sights and sounds of Shrewsbury next month.

The town will feature in an upcoming episode of the show, due to be aired on BBC1 on March 6.

A number of places within the town are featured including; The Quarry, Bandstand, Town Centre, St Chad’s Church and Shrewsbury Catholic Cathedral.

Songs of Praise, which was first broadcast in 1961, and features members of the public joining together in song in churches and chapels across the UK.

Filming took place over two days in February.

Helen Ball, Town Clerk said: “We were delighted to welcome Songs of Praise to Shrewsbury and we hope viewers enjoy seeing a little piece of our beautiful town.”

Programme producer Karen Hannah added: ‘The town provided a picturesque backdrop for our music items and interviews and we were given a very warm welcome.’
