Shrewsbury Market Hall has a Nose for Fundraising

Traders at Shrewsbury’s indoor Market Hall are set to prove they have a nose for fundraising as they do their bit for Comic Relief.

This year’s Red Nose Day takes place on Friday March 18.

There will be fun and laughter all day long at the Market Hall where traders will be ‘doing something funny for money.’

A whole host of fundraising activities will be taking place, including the sale of specially made Red Nose Day gingerbread men from bakers TO Williams and a market-wide ’round up to a pound’ campaign.

There will also be a special book and pictures clearance sale at the Market Book Stall, with items priced at just £1 and 50 pence from each sale going to Comic Relief.

Kate Gittins, site facilities manager at the Market Hall said: “We will be getting into the spirit of Comic Relief on Friday with a host of special activities planned throughout the day so come along and join in the fun!”

Comic Relief was founded in the United Kingdom in 1985 by the comedy scriptwriter Richard Curtis and Alexander Mendis.

The 2009 appeal raised more than £80 million for disadvantaged people here in the UK as well as in some of the poorest countries in the world.
