Poster Competition Winner Announced

The winner of Shrewsbury Town Council’s First World War poster competition has been announced.

The Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Miles Kenny, selected a poster designed by 11-year-old Emily Johnson Tozer, from Greenfields Primary School, as the winning entry.

The poster will now be displayed in the Dingle gardens as part of a commemorative display.

Primary school children in Shrewsbury were invited to observe the second year marking the centenary of the First World War by designing a poster depicting the plight of animals in conflict.

This year’s official commemorative theme, as selected by the Imperial War Museums, focuses on how animals played their part in the war, both on the home front and on the battlefield.
