Damage to Hedgerow at Monkmoor River Ground

Shrewsbury Town Council is appealing for information to help catch the person who deliberately destroyed a newly planted hedgerow at Monkmoor River Ground.

Staff from Shrewsbury Town Council’s Countryside Unit, working with a group of volunteers, planted a new hedgerow at Monkmoor River Ground in February.  Removing the old metal and barb wire fence, a native hedgerow was planted with oak, hawthorn, field maple and dog wood to give cover and food for wildlife.

The hedge had taken nicely and was in full leaf a couple of weeks ago.

Award Winning Quarry Splash Park Re-Opens for the Summer

With the start of the summer season almost here, Shrewsbury Town Council has been working towards re-opening the award-winning Quarry Splash Park in time for the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

The official opening is scheduled to take place on May 4 at 10.30am.

With a design chosen by Shrewsbury residents and opened by the Mayor of Shrewsbury in 2016, the play area incorporates traditional play equipment such as slides and swings, as well as fountains and water features, which were built in place of the old paddling pool.

Dingle Donation from Shropshire Creative Agency

Spring visitors to the Dingle in Shrewsbury’s Quarry will be treated to a new bloom of flowers thanks to a Shropshire Creative Agency.

Clear, based in Shrewsbury, is carrying out 15 ‘random acts of kindness’ to celebrate 15 successful years of business, and chose the Dingle as one of the recipients.  Last month, three members of the team used their green fingers and worked with Mark Bowen, who is responsible for looking after the Quarry, to install and plant the new feature.
