To note the Post Office’s decision to relocate to new premises at Robson Stores Limited, 4 Sundorne Avenue, Shrewsbury, SY1 4JP.

ii.  14/01983/OUT – Development East of Nobold Lane, Longden Road, Shrewsbury.
To note the appeal submitted to the Secretary of State against Shropshire Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for the outline application for residential development of up to 125 dwellings (all matters reserved).
Shrewsbury Town Council’s Objection on 20.05.2014:
The Town Council wishes to object to this application. * Members have spent considerable amount of time with their Shropshire Council colleagues and Officers of both Councils reviewing all land allocations as part of the SAMDev process.  Whilst accepting of some development in this area, this development site has never featured as one showing true sustainable credentials * Accepting that this is an outline application, but given that there are other development pressures that will significantly impact on the already congested traffic issues in the area, this application requires further detail.  We would wish to understand how vehicles are to access/egress the site, how they are to flow through the site and potentially what mitigating measures are planned off-site to address the increased traffic pressures that 125 property vehicle movements shall bring. * Currently members are of the view that this not a sustainable development site in that the capacity of the road network in this area will not take additional traffic; this development site will change the very nature of the area from being a countryside lane to an access road to urban sprawl; the density in the area where town meets country should not be as high as is suggested.  Members would therefore wish the matter to be deferred and the developers be invited to make a presentation to the Town Council with a view to providing further information.
