A Slice of South Africa at Market Hall

Shoppers at Shrewsbury’s indoor Market Hall can experience a taste of South African food and drink thanks to a new stall which launched last month.

Jabulani African Foods opened on February 1 and is already attracting a steady crowd.

The business is run by Zimbabwe born Shawn Ranby, and family, and offers a wide range of African food and drink including sweets, meats and groceries as well as a host of spices, sauces and cereal.

Mr Ranby, who now lives in Shrewsbury, said: “Whether you have never tried South African foods before, or if you are a fan of this type of food we have something for you. If anyone has tried something they have liked while in South Africa then come and see if we have it in stock – if not we can try and order it for you.”

Kate Gittins, site facilities manager at the market added: “Over the last few months there has been an influx of continental cuisines offering a fresh dimension at the Market Hall. If you would like to try something new and exciting to eat Jabulani can deliver!”

Jabulani is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9am until 4.30pm and on Thursdays from 9am until 1pm. For more information on the Market Hall log on to http://www.markethallshrewsbury.co.uk
