Mayor's Awards
2011 MAYOR OF SHREWSBURY'S AWARDS
Nominations are invited for the 2011 Mayor's Awards. Awards shall be presented to organisations and groups, businesses and individuals whose achievements have contributed to making Shrewsbury the place that we all enjoy living in, working in, shopping in and visiting.
Nominations are sought in the following categories:
Business Award - acknowledges the work of businesses, organisations and individuals who have contributed to the economy of the town, be it through providing job opportunities, business expansion or general promotion and marketing of the town; there are four categories:

Larger Employers (over 50 employees)

Small Employers (under 50 employees)

Not-for-Profit Organisations

Young Entrepreneur
Environmental Award - acknowledges the work of organisations, community groups and individuals who have contributed to enhancing the environment from major recycling initiatives to organising minor litter picking events; there are two categories:

Environmental Category

Tidy Shrewsbury Category
Community Award - acknowledges the work of community groups and individuals who have contributed to the social well-being of the town from major community projects to someone who looks out for his residents and does their shopping; there are three categories:

Group Category

Individual Category

Volunteer Category
Youth Award - acknowledges the work of schools, groups and individuals who have contributed to the well-being of young people within the town; there are three categories:

Individual Category
Built Heritage Award - acknowledges the achievements of individuals, organisations and companies that own buildings in Shrewsbury and have worked towards enhancing the built heritage; there are two categories:

Single Dwellings, Conversions and Minor Works Category

Commercial or Residential Developments and Major Schemes Category
In addition to the 5 Awards, which shall be judged by a panel of Members and Officers of the Town Council, the Mayor will also present her Commendation Award. This is an award which is personal to the Mayor and shall be presented to a person/persons she has met throughout her Mayoral Year who has/have made a significant contribution to the town.
The award ceremony will be held in the Spring of 2011.
