Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Jon Tandy

Councillor Jon Tandy was born in Harlescott Grange in 1965 and attended The Grange School.

He started work as a baker for a small family firm before owning his own bakery.  In 1989, he sold the bakery and began work as a Postman for Royal Mail.

Jon is a family man, he has been married to Diane for twenty-two years and they have a teenage son at Meole Brace School.  Jon and Diane have lived in the Sutton area for the past nine years.

Diane was born in Betchcott near Church Stretton.

Jon has been a Councillor since 2001, first being elected for Belle Vue on the former Shropshire County Council and then in 2003 becoming a Councillor for Sutton on Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council.

During the transition from Borough to Town Council Jon served as Deputy Mayor.  Jon is now a Councillor for Sutton and Reabrook Ward on both Shrewsbury Town Council and Shropshire Council.

Jon and Diane share many of the same interests which are travel, shopping and relaxing with their son Matthew.

During his Mayoral year Jon hopes to make a difference for all the people of Shrewsbury and our Armed Services who serve us so well.
